Wedding stories from Seattle and Portland photographer Tor Clausen.

Steve & Starr…. Bainbridge Island

Everything was perfect. The tent was situated in the reed lined upper garden, with extra seating on pathways
on the way down to the shoreline. Starr is a seasoned wedding photographer by trade (starr photography)
so the pressure was on to make her love the photos. It was a breeze, with everyone so lively and affectionate.
We also had the added excitement of the tide quickly coming in on our beach photoshoot. We were nearly
trapped. The bride was almost taken out to sea. Almost. We ended up dancing and drinking our salty fears
away. What a great time.

Beaver Lake Lodge – Sammamish WA.

When people think of Seattle, what do they think of? Well, this was a very Pacific Northwest wedding – except it
didn’t drizzle, it poured. No where to be seen were overly hot, sunburned people. Folks were cool and comfortable.
The flowers stayed fresh and perky. And the pavillion proved to be a fantastic place to have a ceremony. Plus,
people forget how elegant and communal umbrellas can be at a wedding. I don’t think they would have changed
a thing.

Andrea and Zaidi’s tropical paradise.

Farmers in Love. The bride and groom were co-owners in a large CSA farm in Pahoa, an hour south of Hilo on the big Island of Hawaii. I have been to Hawaii on numerous occasions, and I remembered that area well. Orchids line the roadside. We (Ariel and I) were picked up at the airport during a downpour and brought to a recently built screened in cabin on the west end of the acreage. The ground was muddy with sharp, rough grass holding the soupy volcanic soil together. The wedding was days off, so the current tropical storm was of little to medium/little concern to the family gathering that was growing by the day. We were treated like royality, taken to a beach hotsprings, given the opportunity to harvest coconuts for a few days, given all the fresh citrus we could eat. It was lovely. A rainbow graced the wedding ceremony and a firedancing troupe twirled the evening to a close.

Whidbey Island – Josh and Mary

Two red heads in love. Thats what the whole weekend was about. The romance of the event starts with a ferry ride
and continues right through to the wedding location – the Whidbey Institute… (http://www.whidbeyinstitute.org) I
hope the photos show how lovely the day was for all involved.

Golden Gardens Bathhouse

It rained a bit as the preparations began for an intimate wedding on the shores of Shilshole Bay. The weather was the last thing on anyones mind. People came from all over the globe for this wedding, and the setting was fantastic. A bit from the city’s website regarding the newly renovated bathhouse:

“The historic Golden Gardens Bathhouse, located just west of the Ballard neighborhood, was built in the 1930s and, thanks to the Pro Parks Levy approved by Seattle voters in 2000, renovated in 2004. Independent heating keeps the bathhouse warm in the winter, and cross ventilations keep it cool in the summer.

The Main Hall comfortably accommodates up to 140 seated guests, and can accommodate up to 295 for a standing room only event. The Main Hall features a cathedral ceiling with many skylights that flood the room with natural light.”
