It was a trip to Hawaii that sparked Tor's love of photography, he was 14 years old. Taking shots of surfers and flowers with the family's old film camera, Tor's mother (the family's official photographer) carefully explained the primitive metering system of wiggling needles and clicking knobs. He would later set up a darkroom in the laundry to print these, bringing beauty to the world and making the linens smell of silver-bromide.
After graduating from the Evergreen State College with a B.A. in visual arts, he moved on to become in-house photographer/designer for the regional design firm, Whitney Design. From 1988-2003, Tor worked alongside photographer Melissa Phipps under their jointly owned photography business StudioCP. Their work included fulfilling the photographic needs of commercial clients like T-mobile, Ballet Northwest and the Department of Fish & Wildlife, as well as hundreds of local and location weddings. He has photographed in all corners of the country and continues to seek far away adventure. Born and raised in Seattle, Tor currently resides in Olympia, Washington. A proud member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) |
